Modern Threads: Fashion and Art by Mariska Karasz

A catalog of the work of Mariska Karasz (1898-1960), a fashion designer
and artist, whose work ranged from formal gowns and children's clothes, to
abstract textiles. Her designs often took the form of recasting traditional
handwork, and she was an early proponent of the DIY movement, writing two
popular books on making art with embroidery. The catalog accompanied
a show at the Georgia Museum of Art, and won the Southeastern College Art
Conference Award for Outstanding Exhibition and Catalogue of Historical
Materials, as well as an honorable mention in the Southeastern Museums
Conference (SEMC) Publication Design Competition.
